Improve The Profitability Of Your Traditional Business With These Internet Marketing Strategies

By Bob Steele

As someone who is running his or her own "traditional" (some may say "brick and mortar") business, you probably see the Internet as an "extra." It's likely that you only use it when you need to do emailing and not any other time. It is possible that you've built at least a basic website that talks about your business. You may believe that it's working for you. But what if you want to build your business even further? There is a whole market of people out there who do most of their shopping through the Internet and you could be reaching them. So what should you do next? Here are a few Internet Marketing tips that you can use to expand your traditional business.

Shoot a video about your company. Shooting a commercial is completely different.

Fine, it's not completely different but there are some differences. The video you shoot isn't going to focus solely on your business, but on you as well. This video won't be showing up on prime time television. Even the cost should be minimal since you can shoot it with your own camera. You will be uploading it online to YouTube and Vimeo and whatever online video sharing sites you want. The popularity of online video has increased exponentially over the past year. The idea is for your company to have a video so people can find out more about you and click on your link.

Put up a commercial for your business on classifieds sites like Craigslist. You can put information up about your business in the services section. You could even list some of the things you are selling in the for sale section. No matter which route you choose to go down, don't make your ads too long. Online classifieds sections are quickly outpacing offline classifieds sections in newspapers and magazines. The best thing about all this is that there is not duplicate content penalty to worry about when it comes to classifieds so you can post the exact same ad across the board.

If you have an excess of inventory, why not try to sell it through an online auction site like eBay? This is a wonderful method of introducing your business to the shoppers who shop mostly online. Be careful, though, and only sell those things that you know you can part with and that won't make more money being offered up as clearance in your own store or business. Spend some time learning how to protect yourself too. Recently eBay has become a hub for scam artists who are fond of buying up items and then demanding refunds from the seller. Still-when you want to get rid of excess inventory quickly while also bringing more eyes into your business, this is a good way to do that. There are all sorts of things you can do online to help market and promote a traditional (or "brick and mortar") business. The most important thing is that there is a global market out there just waiting to find your business online. If you don't put your business online you will be denying yourself this potential income!
